Welcome to Mariahu PG College.

Mariahu P. G. College, Mariahu, Jaunpur (U.P.), is a Private Aided multi-discipline institution affiliated to Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur (U.P.), recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). Besides running courses in Arts, Science and Commerce stream it runs Bachelor level course in Library and Information Science ( B.Lib.& I.Sc.) as well, which is the first in Purvanchal University. It also runs B.Ed. course. At elementary level it runs Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), formerly known as BTC. Both, the B.Ed. and the D.El.Ed are recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Rest of the courses are recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The college is included under Section 2(f)* and is declared fit to receive central assistance (UGC grant) under Section12 (B) of UGC Act, 1956 as per approved pattern of assistance under various schemes. The undergraduate Arts faculty and the B.Ed are aided while the rest of faculties are run under self-finance scheme

College Building

The college has a three-plus-storey U shape building with spacious rooms designed as per the UGC guidelines issued from time to time. The classrooms are fully furnished with large windows to ensure entry of enough natural light inside. The rooms are airy and well ventilated so as to make them comfortable in all sorts of weather.

Laboratory

College Laboratory

The college has fully furnished laboratories for the students of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology in the Science stream. The labs have a rich student-to-desk ratio for quality learning and monitoring. There is a regular supply of the latest equipment catering to the demand of the would-be scientists of tomorrow.

Library

College Library

The college has a rich library that is one of the best in the district, housing more than 39,000 books, including around four thousand exclusively for Teachers' Education. At least ten encyclopedias, including the celebrated Encyclopedia Britannica, and other reference books are available, catering to the needs of the students of almost all subjects taught in the institute.

Playground

The playground of the college of around 5 acres is located in the rear side of the main building. This keeps it away from the noisy street and market. Games like cricket, volley ball, hockey, etc. are regularly played and supervised in our sufficiently large ground. The college has hosted many inter-college, and inter university sports activities with ease and efficiency.

Hostel

The College provides accommodation to its residential learners that hail from distant places. The rooms are spacious with enough natural light and ventilation. Security arrangement is modern and up to date. The hostel has 24 hour power supply. In addition to heavy power inverter there is a diesel power generator to meet any eventuality, A dedicated RO purifier is installed in the hostel for safeguarding the health of the inmates.Presently the hostel facility is available to female students only

Guest House

The college has a small but comfortable guest house to facilitate the occasional stay of the resource persons and other visiting dignitaries. The guest house is air-conditioned and has a dedicated kitchen within to cater to the needs of food and refreshment from time to time.

Power Supply

The classrooms are fully electrified and diesel gen-sets are ready to meet any eventuality of power failure. The campus has automatic solar lights in the premises that light up once it is dark. The college will soon have its own solar plant to cater to the rising demands of steady power.

Cleanliness and hygiene

Utmost care has been taken regarding cleanliness. Dustbins are placed on every floors. The building has toilet facilities to cater to the needs of every wing of every floor. Special care is taken for the female students. The toilets are cleaned and disinfected twice a day.

RO plant

Potable water is available in the college free of cost. A full-fledged RO plant is installed for round the clock supply of purified water. Outlets are installed on every floor. The plant is cleaned at regular intervals.

Canteen

The college has a canteen for the staff and the students within the campus. Items are cooked under the strict quality-control mechanism of college, so that the students are not exposed to unhygienic water and food.

Parking

Owing to its emphasis on academics and strict discipline, the college has earned a status for itself in the region. Students from far off remote villages come here to realize their dreams. The college has a fully functional safe parking place for bikes and bicycles of these students.

ICT

Keeping pace with the modern age education the college has installed major IT tools. All the rooms are fitted with close-circuit cameras that help in maintaining discipline. The college has audio-visual tools, such as LCD projectors, for effective teaching. We are heading towards establishing infrastructure for running smart classes. Wi-fi facility is available within the campus.


Rover Rangers

Rovers / Rangers is the higher wing of Bharat Scouts/ Guides. Boys are known as Rovers and the girls as Rangers. It is a youth movement meant for developing self-reliance and self-confidence among students. It gives a two-fold environment for the evolution of students – as a group and as an individual. Here you come to know what it means to be ‘Yourself’. Some special skills are taught which are very useful at the time of disaster management. The college has two units of 24 students each – Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Rovers’ Crew and Indira Rangers’ Team. Dr Sujeet Kumar Patel is in charge of Rovers Rangers. The participants are provided ‘Pravesh’ certificate after the successful completion of the first year and ‘Nipuna’ certificate after the second year. Eligibility: The programme is open for undergraduate students. The students pursuing B.A., B.Sc. or B.Com are eligible for the course. At the time of admission they need to produce the photocopy of intermediate mark sheet and the photocopy of the admission fee-receipt.

Sports

College Library

To ensure the physical development of students in a creative manner the college has adequate games facilities for football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, badminton, hockey, athletics, etc. It has a vast playground of around 5 acres. Students of the college have participated in various district level, state level and national level tournaments and have won laurels.

Magazine

College Magazine

A college is primarily an educational institution where the young minds are given a congenial atmosphere to give an outlet to their creativity. For this purpose the college publishes its own cultural magazine 'SANKALPAJA', which is one of the best college magazines of the region. It is the voice of the college and as the name suggests it expresses the dreams and resolution of students and their gurus.

Activities

College Library

Learning is not perfect unless put to practice. Our college organizes various academic activities like seminars and debates. Cultural activities like rangoli, mehndi competition, etc., are also held to satisfy the creative urge of the young learners.


Extracurricular

NCC

National Cadet Corps is a tri-services organization comprising Army, Navy and Air Force. It is a voluntary organization that recruits cadets from among the students after which they are trained and groomed to be patriotic citizens. The motto of NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’. It plays a significant part in building a person's character by fostering the spirit of teamwork and man-management. The cadets are provided basic military training in foot drill and command, weapons’ training, field craft, civil defense, map reading etc.. Guard of Honour is given on 26th January and 15th August to commemorate the Republic Day and Independence Day of India. The NCC unit of the college is affiliated to 98UPBN – NCC of Varanasi B group with its headquarters at Lucknow. The college has two platoons of 51 cadets each headed by Platoon Commander Captain S. K. Pathak, who is also the Principal of this college. 33% out of total 102 cadets are taken from among girls. Eligibility: The programme is meant for undergraduate students. The students of B.A., B.Sc. and B.com can participate in NCC. The cadets are awarded ‘B’ certificate after the successful completion of two years of training and the coveted ‘C’ certificate after the completion of three years of training. ‘C’ certificate holders get weightage in various state level and national level exams.

NSS

National Service Scheme is a programme meant for students conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It was launched in 1969 the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. The aim of the programme is to develop the personality of volunteers by inculcating in them the spirit of social welfare without bias. This is accomplished through active manual service of the community. The motto of NSS is ‘Me Not Thou’. The programme is meant for undergraduate students of the college. It involves 4 one-day camps and a seven-day special camp in a village or a city suburb, where the volunteers are involved in such social activities as cleanliness, afforestation, blood-donation and similar health camps and awareness rallies and processions. NSS Volunteers who have served for at least 2 years and have performed 240 hours of work are entitled to a certificate from the university under the signature of the Vice-Chancellor and the Programme Coordinator. The college has 4 units of 100 volunteers each led by the programme officers – Dr Sunil Maurya, Dr Durgeshwari Pandey, Dr Devendra Upadhyaya and Dr Dayasindhu. Eligibility: The students of the first and the second year of B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com are eligible for enrollment in NSS.

Yoga

In order to ensure a sound body and mind, our college has chosen to run Yoga classes as a part of NEP 2020. The participation of the youth in this program is impressive. Students find it very useful in their all-round personality development. It helps in minimizing the stress level of students engaged in the cut-throat competition of modern days for a successful career.
